Riley - Protect endangered species - Hoodie 4
Riley the Orca! Riley is a Southern Resident Orcas, and the “Killer Queen” of the Pacific Ocean. Their critical habitat includes the area around southern B.C. and Washington State. They feed on Chinook salmon primarily, and Coho and Chum when available.
Due to lack of prey, underwater noise, contaminants and physical disturbance to their habitat (prey-related, density-dependent factors), as of March 2019 the population of Southern Resident Orcas is just 75. This is the smallest number in 35 years.
Our MLAs are fighting for legislation to protect endangered species like Riley.
